Automation and Sustainability: IXS-PAL®’s Vision for the Corrugated Board Industry

Interview with Robert Karimov (PR Manager of Karimov GmbH) and Rustem Karimov (CEO of Karimov GmbH) at FACHPACK 2024.

We are here to answer questions about the main trends in the corrugated board industry today and how our company is responding to these challenges.

Robert Karimov

A significant trend we see nowadays is the automation of processes within plants. We are contributing to this automation by offering solutions at the final stage of the logistics chain. For example, we provide machinery that produces pallets of stable quality, which can then be directly loaded with goods and shipped. This is our contribution to the trend of automation we see today.

IXS-PAL® is an innovative pallet system designed to replace traditional wooden pallets with more sustainable and eco-friendly corrugated cardboard pallets.

Robert, how does your company support sustainability and eco-friendliness in the industry?

We are committed to sustainability at our core. Our goal is to replace wooden pallets with more eco-friendly and sustainable corrugated cardboard pallets, which can be recycled after use. Unlike wooden pallets, which need to be deconstructed, our corrugated cardboard pallets offer a more sustainable solution. This is our contribution to the industry’s sustainability efforts.

Rustem Karimov

Could you please tell us what major trends you see in the industry today and how your company is responding to these challenges?

More than ever, I believe that the challenges of today are related to automation and the reduction of manual labor at any stage of production. Regarding our proposal, we suggest automating the final stage for any manufacturer where pallets are used for shipping goods.

Wooden pallets need to be purchased, stored, received, quality-checked, and fed into production. This entire process can be optimized by switching to cardboard pallets. Of course, I haven’t even mentioned the environmental and modern aspects, which are also important issues.

We offer not only pallets. Primarily, we provide equipment for producing cardboard pallets at the manufacturer’s site.

Where pallets are used, they can be produced independently in the required quantity and stable quality, automating the process that completes any production.

I see. How does your company support sustainability?

Let’s smoothly transition to ecology. Our product is cardboard pallets. They weigh three to four kilograms, depending on the material, whereas wooden pallets weigh around 20 kilograms. This means less primary fiber is needed and fewer transportation requirements. Our website has detailed information about the environmental aspects of our project. The transition from wood to cardboard in transport packaging has already taken place, and now we propose replacing wood with cardboard pallets.

In your opinion, what will be the biggest challenge for manufacturers in this industry over the next five years?

It’s hard to say. Every year brings new challenges, whether it’s a pandemic or something else. Overall, the challenge lies in accepting or rejecting new solutions, in whether to remain a conservative or become an innovator. It’s important not to miss your chance and not just survive but thrive by being open to innovative solutions, such as our pallet integration system.
